Our History
Robert Lapierre and Roy Samra started their career as hairdressers in 1958 with one salon in Worcester, Massachusetts. Through great customer service and professional skills their client base grew as the word of Rob Roy Hair Salon spread, and soon a second salon would open… and a third… and a fourth…
But something bigger was happening. Rob and Roy always believed that proper education was an important factor in their vision of the perfect salon. With their extensive knowledge and expertise, they began holding weekly training sessions in their salons, helping others improve their skills and satisfy clients. These training sessions proved to be so important to Robert and Roy, and so helpful to the development of others, they knew they had found the other half of their calling. In 1979, they opened their first school, and Rob Roy Academy was born. Today, the Academy has four locations in Massachusetts, and one in Rhode Island, each adhering to their original vision of training in the beauty and barbering fields.
